“Christmas Trees!” – Evelyn’s Diaries

I have found my new favourite thing! I have started to see them all over the place and I get very excited when I find one! They very much remind me of myself. They are sparkly, they light up a room and can be prickly if you get on the wrong side of them. Can you guess what it is? Of course you can, I wrote it in the title…it’s Christmas trees!

I just get so excited when I spot one, as soon as I do, I shout out as loud as I can…“CHRISTMAS TREES!” Letting everyone around me know just how excited I am by them. Last weekend when I went to Water Babies, there was a massive Christmas tree and stood next to it, was Santa! Now those of you who have read my previous diary entry, will know that I am very skeptical of Santa and his evil plans to steal my milk. However, I was too excited to do anything about it and instead, stared at the Christmas tree. My Daddy even pointed out to me that Santa was waving at me, but I didn’t care. I just blanked him and stared at the Christmas tree.

I don’t know what it is about them that I enjoy so much. They are so tall, pretty to look at and are all lit up. They are way better than all those boring trees outside with nothing on them. Why don’t we just make all trees look like that all the time?

This week, my Mammy took me to a garden centre that had millions of Christmas trees. Of course, I have no idea how many a million is, as I can only count to 10 at the moment, but there were definitely more than 10. At the garden centre there were lots of Christmassy things! There was an elf workshop, a train, singing reindeer and polar bears. There were also some real reindeer!

Now I have heard a lot of stories about Santa’s flying reindeer. So I was very excited to finally meet some real reindeer and to see them fly. Being a trained pilot myself, I was interested to share experiences with them. To my disappointment, not one single reindeer flew. Apparently Santa has to be around for the reindeer to fly. As I have said before, Santa wields too much power for my liking.

Despite this, I had a really nice day looking at all these Christmassy things. I am getting excited about Christmas now, but there is one thing missing…there is still no Christmas tree up in my house! Hopefully next week this will change…
