“I am taking over!” – Evelyn’s Diaries

Before I get started with my weekly update, it has come to my attention that some of you have been reading my diaries and haven’t even subscribed! When you subscribe, you don’t have to keep checking for my updates, you get an email telling you it has arrived. Isn’t that convenient! Apparently, you will also get emails when my Daddy posts all his nonsense as well, but you can ignore that if you want. But make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss out on the best part of this blog…my diaries!

Now on to business!

I have been thinking a lot about my career this week. I am getting older now, I will be 3 years old in August. So with that in mind, I thought it was about time I started making some career moves. The problem with that is, I don’t know what career I want. Therefore, I decided to try my hand at lots of different jobs this week.

When you watch adults, you realise that they do lots of different jobs. I see them vacuming, cleaning clothes, cooking/baking, cutting the grass, cleaning windows…too many to list! They must be getting paid lots of money to do these jobs, as they are able to keep buying me food and getting me the latest Paw Patrol toys. The adults must also really enjoy doing these jobs as I watch them doing these jobs every day!

I wanted to get in on the action.

If there is money to be made, I want to be part of it. So I decided that I was going to take over!. My plan was to ease my way in to helping the adults with these jobs, so I can learn the ropes and eventually…steal their job completely! Keeping all the money for myself.

Cleaning the house with Mammy

It started with the cleaning jobs in the house with my Mammy. She loves to run around the house with a fluffy stick she calls a “duster”. It is a bit of a weird job, because she just rubs this fluffy stick on random places around the house. It seemed simple enough, so I decided I was going to help out. I got myself my very own little fluffy stick and started rubbing it on different surfaces in the house. I rubbed the window, the table and Daddy’s leg. However, I got bored pretty quickly. So I decided that I don’t want a career with fluffy sticks.

Cutting the grass with Daddy

My next job I tried was helping Daddy cut the grass. I am not going to lie, it seemed like a lot of work walking up and down with a loud lawn mower, cutting all the grass. So I let my Daddy do that bit by himself. My contribution, was that every now and then I would pick up a handful of grass and throw it up in the air. To my surprise, Daddy didn’t see this as particularly helpful. I think he just felt threatened and knew I was after his job. Anyway, I don’t want that job, I saw too many spiders and flies, and I don’t like them, so cutting the grass is not for me.

Baking cakes with Nanna

My final job was something I knew would be more fun than either of the above. It was helping my Nanna bake cakes in the kitchen. Now I have seen my Nanna’s baking skills before, so I knew I had an excellent chance of taking over as the Head Baker. However, I didn’t want to ruin my Nanna’s confidence straight away, so I allowed her to do the measuring of the ingredients and some of the mixing. But when it came to the decorating, I had to take over. These cakes needed to look phenomenal if my name is going to be attached to them. I firmly but politely, told Nanna to get out the kitchen and I took over. I let the sprinkles fly and soon enough, the most beautiful cakes were left standing in front of me.

After careful consideration, I have made my decision that it’s time to sack Nanna and let me take over as the Head Baker. Life is tough Nanna, if you can’t take the heat, get out the kitchen!
