“Super Evelyn!” – Evelyn’s Diaries

I have spent a lot of time watching Paw Patrol, wishing that I had some special powers as well. Those little super pups can fix any situation and do everything. I have to be honest, I get a little bit jealous.

But my time has now come!

I am now part of the super hero club. Allow me to introduce you to…”SUPER EVELYN!”

Now I know you may look at the picture and think to yourself, “Wait a second, that’s not Evelyn”. But that is because I am wearing my super hero mask, which means you cannot identify me and I am completely in disguise.

It was an amazing transformation. I could run faster, I felt taller and stronger, I could accomplish anything! However, there was one thing missing. All of the greatest superheroes have catch phrases. Just like on Paw Patrol when Chase says, “Chase is on the case”. I needed my own catchphrase!

My catchphrase had to come naturally, I didn’t want some sort of fake, clearly made up catchphrase. So I just let it come naturally. When I thought of it, it just felt right, it was comfortable and fit with the style of superhero I wanted to be.

I decided to test it out my new catchphrase on my Mammy and Daddy. So I slid the mask on to my face and ran into the room and shouted out, “SUPER EVELYN!” They had no idea who I was or why this little person was shouting at them, but thanks to my catchphrase, they new they were in the presence of a superhero.

It was genius, nobody will ever forget if my superhero name and catchphrase if they are the same thing. I made sure my Mammy and Daddy didn’t forget by proceeding to run in and out of the room for 30minutes shouting “Super Evelyn!”

Now I have these abilities, it was a question of how do I use them? Do I fill my days with doing good and using them to be helpful? Or do I use them to benefit myself and get what I want? Of course I was going to use them to benefit myself.

I was able to run away from Mammy and Daddy a lot easier, I could wiggle away from them if they caught me and I now felt brave enough to try and steal some snacks. However, once they had removed my mask, my powers were gone!

Being a superhero isn’t as easy as I thought. I felt a weight of responsibility on my shoulders that I am not sure I was ready for. I was so clearly superior to my Mammy and Daddy when wearing the mask, it was important that I didn’t make them feel inadequate in any way.

As a result, I have had to make the decision to retire the mask…for now. I am not sure the world is ready for Super Evelyn. However, the day may come where some snacks are in reach and I make the decision to pull the mask on again and go get them snacks!
