“Center Parcs Holiday – Part 2” – Evelyn’s Diaries

As promised I am back with part 2 of my holiday to Center Parcs!

If you haven’t read part 1, first of all, why on Earth would you go straight to part 2? That is madness. Secondly, let me give you a quick recap…by telling you click here and read part 1! Evelyn does not repeat herself.

So, on to the next set of activities I did at Center Parcs…

“Mini Trek”

As mentioned in part 1, I climbed an aerial assault course that must have been at least 100ft high! It was called the “Mini Trek”, but trust me…there was nothing mini about it (look at the picture for proof!). The Mini Trek involved me being harnessed to a climbing frame and having to make my way around, finding puzzle pieces.

Once I was harnessed in, I climbed the steps and bravely began to navigate the course. I was sure that below me awaited a crocodile infested pool, with angry spiders and buzzy flies (you may recall I hate spiders and flies). It turns out that it was just my imagination and in fact there was only tree bark below me, which was a relief.

I successfully made my way around the course, finding all the puzzle pieces in a record time! I don’t know if they actually kept records, but in my mind, nobody has ever done it faster. Once the record books were put down, I was unharnessed and released to safety. What an adrenaline filled morning that was.

Sailing

The adrenaline filled thrill rides did not stop there though! I later found out that I was to become a captain of my very own sailing boat. Whilst I am an excellent swimmer, being a captain of a boat was a new feather in my cap.

My Daddy accompanied me onto the boat, but in hindsight this may have been a mistake. Daddy seemed to have his own aspirations of being captain, as he kept trying to steer the boat himself and steal the controls for me. As captain, I simply could not stand for this. In my biggest, most stern voice, I told him off and said, “Daddy, this is not your boat”. He started laughing at me, but this must have been nervous laughter, as I know that I can be terrifying.

I have to be honest, I think the power of being captain did go to my head. On a few occasions, I may have started turning directly for other boats, forcing them to turn away. I was like the pirate of Center Parcs Lake, terrifying the locals and causing mayhem. As a result, my Daddy intervened to make sure we didn’t crash, I suppose that was one benefit of him being on the boat. Otherwise, we may have been on the news.

Swimming

However, the best activity will always be swimming! I love swimming at Center Parcs, as there is a REALLY big pool where I can swim under water. There is also a little pool with lots of little slides I can go down. This time, my Daddy introduced me to the tunnel slides at the little pool. At first, I was wary of these slides and refused to go down them. I would arrive at the top of the tunnel and look down into a black, never ending hole. No thanks.

My Daddy was persistent, every time we went swimming, he would take me back to the top of the tunnel slide. Each time, I would shout at him and say no. On the last day however, Daddy didn’t take me up to the tunnel slide. Knowing that he had given up, I thought it would be funny to walk up to him and tell him I wanted to go down the tunnel slide. You should have seen the look on his little face, he was so happy.

He took me up to the top of the tunnel slide, I took a brave pill and I slid down into the abyss for the first time. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I think I went down another twenty times that morning. Why didn’t I listen to Daddy and go down on the first day! I would have had so many more days of playing in the tunnel slides, instead I only had half an hour.

Therefore, I think we have no choice but to come back to Center Parcs again. Which was a point I made to my parents coming home, as I cried shouting “I’m not going home! I’m staying on holiday!” Apparently this is called “holiday blues”.

I don’t like holiday blues, I just like holidays.
