“Center Parcs Holiday – Part 1” – Evelyn’s Diaries

I need to clear something up with you all.

Last week, many of you realised that I did not post my usual weekly diary post. I literally received millions of messages from people who were very upset with me for not providing them with an update. People did not know what to do with themselves. I heard stories of people who were just sat staring at their computer screens, refreshing the page with the hope an update would appear in front of their tear filled eyes.

Well do you want to know why I didn’t post a diary last week…I was on my holiday!

I live a very stressful life. I am currently potty training, managing a very successful diary page, I’m learning to swim and trying to figure out how to say potato. My life is nonstop! Therefore, I am perfectly entitled to have a week off and relax on holiday, like any other two year old.

Right, now that the serious points have been made, on to my holiday to Center Parcs! I have been to Center Parcs a few times and I have actually written about it before, you can read it here if you like.

There is just so much to talk about, I am going to write two parts to this diary post! So you are going to get a double dose of Evelyn this week.

For any of you who haven’t been to Center Parcs before, imagine a BIG forest full of squirrels, rabbits, ducks and geese. Now imagine that in the forest there are lots of little houses, a big swimming pool and lots of shops and places you buy food. That is Center Parcs.

I know…a swimming pool in the forest! How amazing is that!

Anyway, at Center Parcs you can do lots of different activities and I felt like I tried them all! I went to a dancing class (which I didn’t like), I painted a duck (not a real one), I played football (briefly), I climbed an aerial assault course that was 100ft high (approximately) and captained a sailing boat (and turned into a pirate). Of course, this was all in between multiple trips to the swimming pool, which was the best part of the holiday!

The activities

Firstly, the dancing. I noted above that I didn’t particularly like the dancing, but there is reason why. My Mammy told me that she was taking me to a dancing class. I love dancing, so I was very excited about this. However, when I arrived at the class, we were all told to sit down on the floor. Immediately, I thought this was strange as most dancing is done on your feet. Next thing I know, the lady in charge of the class started asking us to sing “Old McDonald had a farm”.

My immediate thought was, “What on Earth is going on here?” Clearly we were in the wrong class. “I am here to dance lady, not sing nursery rhymes!” I didn’t say this though, as I am very polite. I gave it precisely 10seconds before I told Mammy that it was time to leave the class. Honestly, I was not prepared to subject myself to listening to a bunch of children singing, when I am here with my best dancing shoes ready to party.

The next activity we had planned was a pottery class. I had no idea what a pottery class was and after the whole “dancing class” debacle, I was very sceptical. But to my surprise, it was actually quite fun! My Mammy, Nanna and I, were all given pottery to paint. My Mammy had a photo frame, Nanna had a little house and I had a duck. To be honest, I think my Mammy and Nanna enjoyed this more than me. I have never seen them concentrate so hard and sit so quietly. I am pleased they had a nice time painting with the children.

The last activity I will talk about in part 1, is football! My Daddy loves football and he is not so subtly trying to encourage me to like football too. He will sit me down with him to watch it on the TV, or will keep asking me if I like football. I usually just walk off or ignore him, it’s funny to see his sad little face when I do so.

However, I can’t lie, I do really enjoy playing football. I run around kicking the ball and love scoring goals. So being told we were going to play football got me REALLY excited! Perhaps a bit too excited. I expended so much energy in the first 10minutes, running around, kicking, celebrating, shouting…I had completely worn myself out. There was 30minutes left of the lesson, but I was done. It was a short but frantic spell of football.

I need a favour…

My arm is getting tired now typing all this out, so I will talk about the rest of the activities in part 2. But I need to ask a favour beforehand…

Please can you ask some of your friends to read my diary too? I want to make more friends, so I need you all to help me and tell other people about my adventures. If they read it and don’t like it, that’s their problem, but we can only try! I heard that you can tell lots of people online on something call “Facegram” or “Twitbook”. No idea how they came up with these names, but I’ve heard they are popular.

Thank you in advance!
