“Home workouts” – Evelyn’s Diaries

During the COVID 19 lockdowns, home workouts seemingly become very popular. Or so I am told. I was a baby at the time, so I had no idea what was going on. I was spending most of my time rolling around on a baby mat trying to control my limbs.

As a result, I am rather late to the party, but have decided to jump on (excuse the pun), the home workout bandwagon.

It is all because of my Grandad really. When I am at his house, I have noticed recently that he has started doing lots of exercises involving his back. He will just get up out of his seat and start stretching and moving around, seemingly at random. I did find it strange that he also keeps putting very cold bags on his back, followed by very hot bags on his back. Make your mind up, are you hot or cold?

Apparently, this is because he is really old now and he has to do lots of exercises. It was his birthday recently. I wasn’t really listening, but I think my Nanna said that he turned 155 years old… or something like that. He was born when the world was black and white, so it seemed to make sense.

I was later told he turned 55, not 155. Which is much less impressive.

Anyway, the exercises my Grandad was doing seemed very fun, so I wanted to get in on the action. I am coming up 3 years old this year, so I am getting pretty old myself! However, for a beginner I think I was pretty exceptional. So if you are looking for some home workout ideas, here is what exercises I did:

Evelyn’s Exercise plan:

Exercise 1 – Stand up with your arms stretched up above your head. Slowly lean to the left. Then if you can manage it, slowly lean to the right. If you still have energy left after that, repeat it. Rest for 20 minutes.

Exercise 2 – Stand up and put your hands on your hips. Then twist your upper body left and right. It turned out that I am an expert at this, as I can twist pretty fast. If you are a beginner, take it easy and go slow otherwise you may get dizzy and fall over. Rest for 20 minutes and have a snack.

Exercise 3 – I went rogue with this exercise and ignored what my Grandad was doing. I just felt the creative juices flowing during the workout and decided to jump up and down whilst moving around in a circle. It was too advanced for my Grandad. He just watched me and laughed for some reason, not sure what was so funny about it. However, if you are looking to really increase your heart rate, give this one a try! Once finished, have some cuddles with someone to recover.

It seems to me that I am a natural when it comes to home workouts and the world of fitness. I smell a business opportunity!

I have done a little research, it seems to me like there are very few toddlers working as fitness instructors currently. As a result, I think there is a gap in the market.

However I am not going to share details of my business plan with you, just in case you get any bright ideas of stealing it! Instead, I am going to test my new ideas on my Grandad. I think next time, I am going to make him pretend to be a horse and sit on his back as he carries me around the room. I am sure that will help his back more than what he is doing now!

If a 155 year old can complete my fitness plan…anyone can!

If you liked my workout or want more of my toddler fitness exercises, let me know in the comments!

This lens of the world is refreshing. It is like I can hear a little voice saying all of these things. I hope your grandfather had a wonderful birthday. I think that our moving around will also encourage him to continue to do so because I know ou make him happy!
