Play-Doh fun” – Evelyn’s Diaries

Why has nobody told me about Play-Doh before!?

This squishy delight has fast become my favourite new thing to play with. I have seen other children play with Play-Doh before, but it never really interested me. However this Christmas, Santa brought me my very own Play-Doh set!

When I opened the Play-Doh on Christmas Day, my first thought was that Santa had made a mistake. I hadn’t asked for Play-Doh, but there it was. However, it was I who had made the mistake! It turns out that Santa knows best and Play-Doh is AWESOME!

At first, I wasn’t sure what you do with it. It was colourful, squishy and it is fun to throw. However, I was told to stop throwing the Play-Doh. Everyone keeps telling to stop throwing things, it is so annoying. I am excellent at throwing.

My Nanna was at hand to help explain what to do with Play-Doh. She picked it up and started rolling it, squeezing it and sticking different parts together. All of a sudden, she presented the most amazing work of art I had ever seen. She had created an EXACT Play-Doh version of Olive (My Nanna’s little dog). Take a look at the picture…that isn’t a photo of Olive by the way, that is just Play-Doh! You can barely tell can you!

I wanted to make my own Play-Doh version of Olive. However, there are levels to the Play-Doh game and I needed work my way up to that. As I am a beginner, I had to start with the basics. So I have been practicing making shapes. My Nanna has been on hand to lend her expert advice when needed, but I think I am making progress!

You have to sacrifice and commit yourself if you want to get better at something. Therefore, I now have a Play-Doh set at home and at my Nanna’s house. I may want to play with my doll house, or watch Peppa Pig, but I don’t. I dedicate myself to the Play-Doh craft so that one day, I will be able to make a Play-Doh animal that I can be proud of. Who knows, perhaps if I become really good at it, I could sell what I make. I am pretty sure there will be a market for this sort of thing.

Before you all ask, my Nanna’s Play-Doh dog is not for sale.
