“Lazy mornings” – Evelyn’s Diaries

It’s been chilly this week hasn’t it?

This colder weather means my Mammy is always trying to make me wear lots of clothes on top of one another. I feel like one of those Russian dolls. She is also constantly trying to make me wear hats.  I don’t particularly like hats. My Mammy thinks I do, but as soon as I get in the car with Daddy wearing a hat, I take it off. He doesn’t seem to mind…or care, I am not sure which to be honest.

As much as I love going outside, in this sort of weather I much prefer having lazy mornings being all cosy and warm in the house. However, I am very particular with how my lazy mornings need to be structured.

For example, if I am at my house, I need to have cosy cuddles with Mammy, before eating my breakfast (which has to be Weetabix), followed by watching TV, usually until Daddy comes down. Then all hell breaks loose. Daddy usually charges after me, throws me around and tickles me. I often think to myself, “I guess that’s my lazy morning over then Daddy”.

If I am going to either of my Nanna’s houses, usually the day starts by being dragged out of bed by my Mammy and Daddy, as they are going to work. A very cold but quick drive then follows before I can then start my lazy morning at Nanna’s house. At one Nanna’s house I must eat porridge for my breakfast. At the other Nanna’s house I must eat Rice Crispies for breakfast. Don’t ask why. This is what I want and this is what I like. My Daddy once suggested having something different for breakfast, so I screamed at him and he hasn’t done it since. Smart move Daddy.

It can be a stressful life being two years old. So I think that it is important to take some time out for myself. Time to relax. Time to heal the mind and body.

As a result, I find it is helpful to structure this time into my day. Which is why I like my lazy mornings. I plan it into my day to make sure I definitely do it and I get my “me time”.

My top tips…

So if you are someone who struggles with finding time for themselves, here are my top tips…

Firstly, when your Mammy or Daddy get you up from bed in the morning, make sure they know exactly what you want for breakfast. This saves time and means you get what you want quicker.

Secondly, you need a cosy blanket or nice pyjamas and a comfy seat.

Thirdly, put a nice programme or film on the TV (I highly recommend Micky Mouse Clubhouse, that crazy little mouse gets up to all sorts).

Finally, if you are like me and have a busy life and have lots on your mind, this is not the time for these thoughts. This is time for Micky Mouse, not time for worrying. So relax and enjoy it!

Anyway, I am done solving all your problems. I hope my advice is helpful, well I know it is…
