“My brand new bed” – Evelyn’s Diaries

Exciting news this week…I have a brand new bed! I didn’t ask for it. I didn’t expect it, but I love it!

It all just seemed like a normal day to start with. I woke up at 6:30am and started shouting “Mammy and Daddy” as loud as I can until they woke up and came to see me. We then got ready for nursery, with my Mammy or Daddy trying to put my uniform on whilst I tried to wriggle away and escape. Once the uniform was]s on, it was time to do my hair. Mammy does my hair all fancy and pretty. However, my Daddy just seems to put in a ponytail and stands back like he has created a masterpiece. He hasn’t, it falls out within an hour.

Then it’s time for one of my favourite parts of the day, breakfast! I like to have porridge with a fruit pouch mixed in. As soon as that bowl is put in front of me, I shovel into my mouth until its all gone. I could just keep eating more and more, but I don’t, only because Mammy and Daddy stop me. Just wait until I can make it by myself.

Me and my porridge filled belly then head off to nursery. I spend the morning playing with toys, painting, running around and spending time with my friends. As quick as a flash, one of my Nanna’s are at the nursery door ready to pick me up and take me home.

I spend afternoons at my Nanna’s houses, where I get up to all sorts of mischief. My Nanna’s will play all the games I want to play, they let me watch what I want to watch on the TV and I get plenty of treats. Disappointingly, my Mammy and Daddy then arrive when they finish work to take me home. They will put an end to all the treats and start talking about boring things like having a bath and bed time.

However, on this day, I found out that bed times were going to be a lot more exciting!

My new bed

When I got home, my Mammy and Daddy told me that they had a surprise for me in my bedroom. Before my new bed, I had a small cot bed, which was basically a baby bed. As it was quite small, by the time I had all my stuffed toys with me, there wasn’t much room to move around. I think my bed must have been shrinking, as there seemed to be a lot less space as I have got older…weird I know. Despite this, it had never entered my mind that I would get a brand new bed. I thought I would just have to curl up more and more in my little bed.

As I climbed up the stairs, the excitement built as I prepared myself for what the surprise in bedroom would be. I arrived at my bedroom door. I pulled down the handle and opened it up to find the biggest, most ginormous bed that has ever been seen in this history of beds!

It had rainbow bedding, all my stuffed animals were lined up by the pillows and I had so much more space for jumping! Which was priority number one, as I ran up to my new bed and climbed aboard, let the jumping commence!

All of sudden, I couldn’t wait to go to sleep! Bed times had become way more exciting! My Daddy and I wrestled on the bed, we read stories together and when it was time to snuggle up, I felt so small when wrapped up in my big quilt. I felt cosy, warm and I loved my new pillows. I had the best sleep that I have ever had! In the morning, I didn’t even shout for my Mammy and Daddy. I just wanted to play on my new big bed!

I have put a picture of my new big bed above. Now you can see for yourself how the biggest bed in the world looks! The one concern I do have, is that if this bed starts shrinking too, am I going to end up with a tiny bed again!? They will just have to buy me an even bigger bed next time.
