“Evelyn the Oompa Loompa” – Evelyn’s Diaries

What a crazy Halloween it has been! I have been full of busy this week, going to Halloween parties, dressing up as funny characters, going trick or treating and enjoying everybody’s Halloween decorations. Lots to talk about, but only one place to start…my transformation into an Oompa Loompa.

Becoming an Oompa Loompa

First of all, don’t worry if like me, you have no idea what an Oompa Loompa is. My Mammy and Daddy first mentioned that the idea of dressing up as an Oompa Loompa a couple of weeks ago. Even though I had never heard of an Oompa Loompa before, I love dressing up so I was all for it. I was later shown some videos of Oompa Loompas and I can’t lie, I wasn’t really sure what I was looking at.

Oompa Loompas are small people with orange faces, big green hair and wear a brown and white uniform. Apparently, they all work in chocolate factories and help make all the chocolate, so I was more than happy to become one of them. I was later told that Oompa Loompas are not real and they are characters from a film. Which was a disappointment. Why do people keep lying to me or making me believe things are real when they are not? Hopefully that’s the last lie I have been told, as Santa will becoming soon and I will be telling him who all the liars are!

The reason I was dressing up, was because I was going to a Halloween party with my Mammy and Daddy and their friends. It was a long drive in the car to get there but it was well worth it! We had a chocolate scavenger hunt, played musical statues and I made lots of new friends. We all had a great time at the party, and everybody loved my costume. Take a look at the picture and tell me how amazing I look in the comments!

Trick or treating

The Halloween excitement continued as I had my first experience of trick or treating. Trick or treating is where you go to other peoples houses, knock on their door, say “trick or treat” and they then give you some chocolate or sweets. This may be the greatest activity ever created! It is basically a night of collecting free chocolate!

I didn’t dress up as an Oompa Loompa this time though. Apparently my scalp is still green from the first time, so Mammy and Daddy said that they weren’t painting me again. Instead, I went out trick or treating as my favourite Paw Patrol character, Skye!

My Mammy and Daddy told me the rules of trick or treating, which was to only knock on doors of houses that had pumpkins or decorations outside. When they answer the door I need to say “Happy Halloween”, or “Trick or treat”. Only then will the exchange of chocolate take place. Once the chocolate is gathered, I say thank you and I move on to the next house. Piece of cake! Or should I say, piece of chocolate!….Oh I am hilarious aren’t I. Some would call me a delight…a Turkish Delight! Ok, I will stop now.

By the time I got home, my little Halloween bucket was full with different sweets and chocolates. I was quite happy to sit and eat all of them straight away, but Mammy and Daddy quickly intervened to stop me. I am only allowed one per day apparently….but that didn’t stop Mammy and Daddy stuffing their faces with the chocolate left over from trick or treaters knocking on our door. Hypocrites.

Anyway, the Halloween festivities have come to an end. However, more excitement is just around the corner. It is soon to be bonfire night and we are going to see some fireworks! I have never seen fireworks up close, so I am looking forward to that.

I hope everyone had a nice Halloween and have buckets full of sweets! What did you dress up as this Halloween? Let me know in the comments, I bet it wasn’t as good as my Oompa Loompa outfit!
