“Becoming Spidergirl” – Evelyn’s Diaries

Spidergirl

As I have documented in the past, I have very much been enjoying certain TV programmes and films. Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig and Finding Nemo, all have given me hours of enjoyment. However, in recent weeks I have had a lot more of an open mind to trying new programmes or films.

Previously, I was quite reluctant to watch anything new. I knew what I liked and stuck to it. However, I now find myself with the urge to broaden my horizons when it comes to my TV selections. As a result, I have spent a lot of time sampling new content.

Whilst I still enjoy some of the old favourites above, some of these new programmes have really captured my attention. Super Kitties, Pupstruction, PJ Masks and my new favourite…Spidey and his Amazing Friends. I had never heard of Spiderman before. So for those unaware, Spiderman wears a red and blue suit, swings between buildings using his webs and always saves the day! He is a man, but can do things like a spider can. Therefore, they cleverly came up with a name that combines the two. SPIDER and MAN. These people really are very creative!

I sit watching Spiderman with a big smile on my face as he and his friends use their powers to stop the bad guys! I have to be honest, I am a pretty amazing person myself, but I am still jealous of Spiderman and his powers. So much so, that I have decided to be just like him, probably better.

Project Spidergirl

This project started when I went shopping for a new hat with my Mammy. We were walking past all the clothes for little boys, when I saw it…a blue Spiderman hat!!

I thought to myself, “hang on a second, why can only little boys be Spiderman!?” Clearly, there is a gap in the market for a Spidergirl? I could not let such a injustice slide, so I made it clear to my Mammy that this is the hat I wanted to get. Yes, there were lots of pretty hats that were sparkly and pink, but no! Spidergirl is my destiny, not sparkles.

As you can see by the picture, after a short discussion, I had my very own Spiderman hat. From that moment, I became…Spidergirl!

Spidergirl is better than Spiderman anyway. Do you know why? Because she is sassy!

If you are a bad guy who is being naughty, it is one thing to worry about Spiderman and his powers stopping you. It is a whole other thing to worry about Spidergirl and her powers saving the day and being incredibly sassy while doing so.

Now that I have a Spiderman hat, I feel that I pretty much look identical to Spiderman now, so I would say that is phase 1 becoming Spidergirl is complete. Phase 2, is getting the powers. The cartoon on TV didn’t really say how he got his powers, which is a bit of a problem. So I am just going to have to try and figure them out.

What I have been doing so far, is just running around a flicking my wrist to see if anything happens. No joy so far. If this continues to not work, I may have to start doing some experiments in the house to make my own web. Maybe I just need some string and some glue…that should work fine.

Anyway, I am pretty sure I will be able to swing from buildings pretty soon. I am keeping this all a secret from my Mammy and Daddy for now. If they were to find out I am planning on jumping off our roof and using some string with glue on, to swing to the next house, they will probably start moaning at me for “being silly”, or doing “something dangerous”. Not sure why they can’t just be supportive.

Either way, I shall not give up and I am pretty sure I will have my own cartoon soon. “Disney+ presents, Evelyn as the Spidergirl!”
