“Happy Easter” – Evelyn’s Diaries

Happy Easter everybody! This week’s diary has been delayed slightly, as I wanted to talk all about my Easter weekend.

Although I do have a few questions about Easter, the main one being…what is Easter?

I have been so confused all weekend. Everybody has been bringing me presents, just like my birthday. I have been getting lots of chocolate, like at Christmas, but I don’t see Santa anywhere. Everybody has bunny rabbit pictures or decorations in their house and apparently this all to do with some bloke called Jesus. It’s carnage!

Thankfully, I think I have worked it all out…

So there was this guy called Jesus, who had a pet rabbit called “Easter”. One weekend every year, this rabbit would lay a bunch of chocolate eggs and share them with everybody. As everybody loves chocolate, everybody was very happy with “Easter” the rabbit. Happy with Easter, was then shortened to “Happy Easter”. Therefore, one weekend every year, all the grownups buy each other chocolate eggs and say “Happy Easter”, to celebrate the magic rabbit that laid chocolate eggs. It is the only possible explanation!

Anyway, enough of my history lesson. This has been a busy weekend for me. The weekend started with my friend Jonah coming to visit me at my house. I like Jonah, he is a little bit smaller than me, so I like to show him all my toys and how they work. I let Mammy have some of her friends come round too, so that she had someone to speak to whilst I played with Jonah.

Next up, my Mammy and I played in the garden as it was a very sunny day. We also went for a walk in the sun which was nice, so nice that I may have fallen asleep on the walk. I have no idea where my Daddy was throughout all this. All I know is that Daddy left the house with a big bag of sticks and balls and went to something called “golf”. Sounds boring.

From one social engagement, on to the next! This time I went to see my Nanna and Grandad at their house. At their house was my Uncle Sean, Uncle Lewis and Aunty Charlie, as well as their dog “Olive”. My Nanna had prepared lots of food for us all, as well as buying me some new toys and of course, some more chocolate!

I had such a fun afternoon playing with my Paw Patrol toys, building camps and jumping on the beds. I ate lots of yummy food and may have sampled some of the chocolate that was bought for me. My Daddy decided to turn up for this, which was good of him.

Sleepy Evelyn

Despite my insistence that I was not tired and didn’t want to go home, I may have slightly dozed off in the car, which was rather embarrassing. But thankfully, once we got home my Mammy let me play in the garden for a while, which gave me another burst of energy.

It has been a very busy weekend for me. Just between you and me, I am really tired and need a rest. I am hoping my Mammy and Daddy have arranged a quiet day for me tomorrow. It would also give me plenty of time to eat all my chocolate eggs. Thank you to Jesus and his magic rabbit!

Happy Easter everybody!
