“My First Week at Nursery” – Evelyn’s Diaries

It has been a milestone week for me, as I embarked on my first week in Nursery! It feels like everybody has been telling me that I will be starting Nursery for weeks, but this week was the week it finally happened. I have been for my nursery visits, I had met my teachers, but now it is time for the real deal.

My first day

My first day started with a lot of excitement. I woke up, cleaned my teeth, had my breakfast and then it was time to put on my nursery uniform. I have to say, I looked fabulous. So fabulous that my Mammy and Daddy had a little photoshoot in our living room. Take a look at the photo above, don’t I look stylish?

On what was a very happy and exciting occasion, for some reason my Mammy kept saying that she was going to cry. I can’t just have a nice happy morning celebrating, she just has to be centre of attention doesn’t she! Anyway, I ignored my Mammy’s tears and carried on with the excitement.

It is really convenient that the nursery is only a short drive from my house. Which meant that as soon as I was in the car, I was getting back out again, as we had arrived at Nursery. There were lots of other little boys and girls walking into the school, which mean lots of opportunities to make new friends! I skipped along the path and arrived at the door of the nursery classroom. How lucky that all these other children are going to be at the same school as the world famous Evelyn!

More of mammy’s tears

I was greeted by a friendly woman who asked for my name (it’s cute when people pretend they don’t know I am a famous blogger) and welcomed me into the Nursery classroom. I was so excited to run in, I almost forgot to say bye to my Mammy and Daddy. So I quickly turned around and gave Mammy and Daddy a kiss and a cuddle and walked back off into the classroom. I had a quick glance backwards as my Mammy was wiping tears away AGAIN! I rolled my eyes and walked off out of view.

Home time

What seemed as quick as a flash, nursery was finished for the day and it was time to go home. I put on my cardigan, grabbed my bag and went to the nursery exit and to my surprise, my Mammy and Daddy were stood there! I couldn’t believe they stood outside the door the whole time waiting for me! How embarrassing! Despite this, I was pleased to see them, as it meant I didn’t have to walk home by myself, as I think I would get lost if I had to do that.

My Mammy and Daddy immediately bombarded me with questions about my first day in nursery. They are so nosey. Why can’t I just have something for myself without them sticking their nose in? Anyway, there was one problem. I would love to have been able to tell everyone about what I did in nursery, but in all the fun, I seemed to have forgotten. This did not seem to deter my Mammy and Daddy from asking question after question. Therefore, I just made up that I had been drawing pictures and this seemed to please them.

Apparently, after being so successful on my first day at nursery, they wanted me to go back every morning, every week! I can’t say I am surprised…I am a delight. However, I am not sure I am going to be able to cope with my Mammy crying every day and hanging around the nursery door.

She will just have to get over it…this little girl is going to nursery!
