“Nightfall light show” – Evelyn’s Diaries

A couple of weeks ago, my evening routine was plunged into chaos! Now I know what you must be thinking…”Evelyn, this is a weekly diary update, why are you talking about something that happened a couple of weeks ago?” If you are thinking that, excuse me for having to prioritise my busy life and deciding to talk about my terrifying encounter with Santa first! Which you can read all about here.

However, I have finally managed to find some time in my busy schedule to write about this chaotic, but very fun evening!

This time of year, night time seems to be starting so soon. I feel like I just finish my tea, then it is all dark outside and next thing I know, I am in the bath and put into bed. But this time, everything was different! I finished my tea, started to get ready to play with my toys and demand that “Finding Nemo” is put on the TV. However, something strange started to happen. My Mammy told me to put my coat and shoes on. Was I having a bath outside? Was I going to sleep in the trees? I had no idea what was happening, but I was very excited.

My excitement peaked when my Mammy and Daddy revealed that we were going to go for a walk to see lots of pretty lights. Now, I LOVE walks! I also love pretty things and I really enjoy lights. So this was like the perfect combination for me.

After a short drive, we arrived at our destination and were greeted by fireworks! I have never seen fireworks before, other than on the TV. They were so loud, but very fun to watch. Although, as we got closer to them, they did get a bit too loud for me. So I tried to block out the noise by covering my eyes, which didn’t work weirdly.

Nightfall light show

We started our walk round the park. Well when I say walk, I meant that I was snuggled up cosy and warm in my pushchair, while my parents pushed me round and did all the walking. The lights were so bright and colourful and were designed in lots of different patterns. I also saw lots of animals lit up and enjoying pointing them out when I saw them.

However, the main attraction was something to behold! Once I saw it, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Every other light around me blurred into the background as I shouted out the name of the prettiest light in the sky…”THE MOON!”

In my mind, I was chasing the moon around the park. In my excitement, I made sure I let everyone know when I could see the moon again by shouting, “There he is!” Weirdly, my Mammy and Daddy kept trying to take my attention away from the moon, to look at all the other light designs that they had paid money to come and see. I heard my Daddy mutter under his breath, “We could have just put her in the garden if she only wanted to see the moon”. I just ignored him. He gets like that sometimes, I pay no attention to it. The best part was that I could see the moon for the whole drive home. So I made sure to let my Daddy know…It’s fun to wind him up sometimes.

Overall, I had a lot of fun on this little night time adventure. Enjoy some of the photos from our trip, although my Daddy refused to take any of the moon.
